For students having lessons through Trafford Music Service there is the option of working towards ABRSM music exams, where offered on those instruments. Tutors will work towards the standards needed and advise when pupils are ready to take an exam. The length of time this takes varies from child to child and on different instruments. Our music service office then contacts parents when pupils are ready with further details.
There are fees connected with this both for the exam, potential accompanist fees and administration. Current exam fees and dates will be provided in a letter from our office when reccomended by tutors coming up to exam periods. Not all instruments are currently provided within ABRSM exams.
Whenever possible, at set times of the year, we act as an exam centre which means exams will be held at The Claremont Centre, Sale. Exams largely take place during school hours and guardians will need to transport children to and from the examination.
Exam fees are non-returnable apart from withdrawal on medical reasons whereupon the ABRSM will issue a part-refund on production of a medical certificate.
Pupils annual reports and weekly practice diaries are a good source of information for students progress. For a greater level of detail on what is involved in taking exams including syllabuses please visit https://gb.abrsm.org/en/our-exams/
